The Neck Tie from Big Fat Snare Drum

This is a super cool product from Big Fat Snare Drum or BFSD as they are commonly referred to as. The BFSD Neck Tie is a new product to Drum Shop that no matter how you use it, makes you play in a new creative way! It has five sets of tambourine jingles attached to it and is an unconventional piece of kit we'll give it that, but the sounds it can create are far from unconventional! The round 2" hole at the top of the neck tie sits on a cymbal sleeve/felt, wing nut, nylon post, quick set or cymbolt and is placed in these places to keep it in place. The tie part of the neck tie lays on top of your cymbal and once you start playing creates a trashy, sizzling effect. 

As with any piece of kit, where you use it changes the results you achieve. The neck tie works really well on ride and crash cymbals and creates that signature trashy sound. When used on a pair of hi-hats it hangs of the edge slightly but still allows for that sizzling sound. The most inventive place we've found this product used is against the bass drum, placed near the bass drum beater the vibration creates a fantastic jingle that breaks up your sound beautifully. Wherever you use your neck tie, make sure you get creative with it and create a bank of sound that you can draw from again and again.
